Two men were arrested after police intercepted a car at Palo Seco and seized seven automatic and semi-automatic firearms along with several rounds of ammunition.
Offficers of the South Western Division made the recovery when they stopped a green Nissan B-14 along the SS Erin Road near the Palo Seco Secondary School.
The car was being driven by a 29 year old, farmer, of Lorensotte North Trace, Rancho Quemado with a 43 year old passenger from Arena Village, Erin.
The exercise was co-ordinated by W/Snr. Supt. Patsy Joseph, Supt. Palloo and Insp. Pariman and supervised by Sgt. Joachim with assistance from PC Ramdath and other personnel of the Task Force South Western Division.
The suspects were taken to the Cap de Ville Police Post where charges of possession of firearms and ammunition were laid against them by PC Ramdath. They were expected to appear before a Point Fortin Magistrate Court today.
According to a statement from the Police Service the following was found in the car:
1) One UZI Sub-machine gun with 2 magazines
2) One 2-45 Sub-machine gun serial with 2 magazines
3) One Sig SP 2009 9mm pistol with 1 magazine
4) One IMI 9mm pistol with 1 magazine
5) One Short Venezuela shotgun
6) One long shotgun
7) One Mossberg 12 guage Shotgun
8) Twenty-three (23) rounds 9mm ammunition.
