Kanika Paul-Payne and Sophia Harper combined to lead TSTT to a 45-20 blowout of Police in their Courts All Sectors Netball League Alternative Division duel at the Eastern Regional Indoor Sports Arena, Tacarigua on Tuesday night.
Goal attacker, Paul-Payne converted 23 of her 30 attempts and goal shooter, Harper got 22 of 26 attempts for the winners who after being held 6-6 at the end of the first quarter opened up a 16-8 lead at the half, and extended it to 30-16 by the third before cruising to victory.
The win was the sixth of the season for TSTT to join unbeaten University of T&T (6-0) at the top of the table on 12 points each, however, the latter has a superior goal-difference of plus-158 to its plus-90 and a match in hand.
Police on the other hand, which got a team-high 13 goals from 20 attempts by Cheryse Aguilleria and seven from 20 by Tahirah Hollingsworth, remained rooted at the bottom of the table with one win from six matches.
In the night's opener, Prisons and newcomers Fideas battled it out to the first drawn result of the season, 29-29 to both improve to three points from seven and six matches respectively.
For Prisons, La Vaughn O'Neil had the hot hands with 24 goals from 41 attempts, while Russell sisters', Ayanna and Anita scored 18 and 11 respectively for Fideas.
