T&T Red Force will hope that the inclusion of Kieron Pollard can help the team continue its momentum in the West Indies Cricket Board Professional Cricket League, when round eight bowls off today.
Pollard has been included in the T&T squad to face the Windward Islands at the National Cricket Centre in Couva, after recovering from a leg injury he suffered in the Nagico Super50 tournament held in T&T. The aggressive right-hander has been playing for his club Queen's Park and has been among the runs.
Last weekend Pollard struck an unbeaten 128 off 114 balls in the Shanghai Construction Group National League three-day competition. Pollard's current form will add more confidence to the T&T batting, which improved in the last round against Jamaica. Despite only Jason Mohammed scoring over 50 (62), T&T still posted a healthy 277 in the first innings. Again in the second innings, only one T&T batsman scored a half-century as Kjorn Ottley fell one short of his maiden first class hundred.
Many of the T&T batsmen got into the twenties and thirties in the 179-run win over Jamaica at Sabina Park but failed to convert their starts.
In other matches starting today, leaders Guyana will hope for a win to move closer to the title when it hosts fourth placed Jamaica at the Guyana National Stadium. West Indies batsman Assad Fudadin has returned to the Guyana squad after recovering from a hand injury.
At Warner Park, St Kitts, sixth placed Leeward Islands will welcome second placed Barbados. All matches bowl off at 10 am.
