Eight-year-old Sebastian Ramsaran does not let his lack of vision affect him, as he won two medals at the T&T Karate Federation (TTKF) first regional tournament at Thick Village Community Centre, Fyzabad on February 8.
Ramsaran, a standard two student at Fyzabad Presbyterian School, placed second in the forms competition and third in the sparring segment. The talented youngster is legally blind, as he suffers from Optic Nerve Athrophy.
He has been practicing martial arts for 18 months with Grand Master Roderick Titus of Titus Academy of Martial Arts, and is ranked as first class yellow belt.
Ramsaran is not only successful in karate, but is at the top of his class in academics. His other hobbies are swimming and board games.
