The mayhem continues to rear its ugly head, sadly from a very different perspective than the usual gang-related murders. The killings have recently been directed towards men in uniform and young children. The police have been accused of killing innocent young men as they journey along the streets within the area in which they reside.
In turn the reaction from residents who are both hurt and disgusted by the situation, is the usual burning of tyres and debris along with blocking of the roadways, and other protest action. It is never easy to lose a member of any community to gunfire, and it's even worse when that person is young or is killed innocently.
It is evident that my once sweet country of T&T is going through a terrible period of bloodshed. We need to combine all our forces and pray for this nation to be restored to the stationery it once was.Where did we go wrong? The atmosphere surrounding the capital city of Port-of-Spain is uneasy and quite a few of the residents feel that at this point it could only get worse. This situation needs to be brought to a halt and some sense of calm restored to the country.
