On the Corpus Christi/Labour Day long weekend our family decided to spend it in Scotland Bay but at 10 pm on Friday we were jolted out of our sleep by the sound of a party boat coming into Scotland Bay with speakers blasting.
All thoughts of sleep were now abandoned as we could barely hear ourselves think and the lewd music and vulgarities being spewed by the DJ had me covering my children's ears.
This continued until midnight when they finally pulled up anchor and left. There was a collective sigh of relief right around the Bay but around 2 am another party boat arrived (I was not sure if it was the same one returning as it was too dark to see).
Once again the peace and quiet was gone, replaced by ear-shattering noise (I can't even call it music) and the same lewd music and vulgarities.
Calls to the Coast Guard went unanswered and then came even more noise as fireworks were set off.
This party boat never left until around dawn and the bay was littered with the empty canisters from the fireworks floating in the sea.
Two yachts flying French flags pulled up anchor and left the bay, I am sure vowing never to return to this lawless island.
I have been told by many people that this is a normal occurrence with the party boats coming into Scotland Bay and destroying the peace and quiet with total disregard for anyone else in the bay.
I know that the Coast Guard will point to the EMA and they will point to the CDA and so we go around in a circle with no one being held responsible.
What a disgrace, just plain lawlessness!
