A 30-year-old police constable attached to the Southern Division is expected to appear before a Siparia magistrate this morning on nine charges, including two counts of rape.The officer, who has 13 years service, was arrested last Thursday after a report from by his alleged victim's parent.The report alleged that the officer sexually assaulted a boy, aged 13, some time this year.
The child was examined by a doctor.South Western Division police arrested the officer and took him to the Siparia station for questioning.A file was sent to the DPP's office over the weekend with witness statements and medical reports.Yesterday, the DPP handed down instructions for the two rape charges and seven counts of sex with a minor to be laid against the officer.
