During the rainy season this seemingly unattended Flagstaff housing development becomes a breeding ground for mosquitoes.Last rainy season there were several cases of dengue, including one of an 18-month-old baby who had to endure the severe effects of this disease.
At that time when the reports were made to the Insect Vector Control division and they came to inspect they said that the source of the mosquitoes was the PSA grounds and that they are never able to get access to spray the compound. Now that the rainy season is here again, there have been widespread outbreaks of dengue, with chikungunya also being reported on the Flagstaff compound, and it is particularly rampant amongst the units that border PSA.
Children and senior citizens are being adversely affected. The infestation is so rampant that a senior citizen who returned from vacation in a temperate climate one week ago has already contracted the virus. Another senior citizen who lives in the same block has been suffering for the past week due to becoming infected.
This is the same PSA that shuts down buildings left, right and centre for anything that he claims could (slightly) endanger his worker, but whose development is supporting the spread of this dreadful and painful disease! Not only that, but this is the compound in which the president of this nation resides. Is it only if he or one of his family members gets affected that something will finally be done about this untenable situation?
This has gone beyond the point of being ridiculous! Something must be done!
