National cyclist Njisane Phillip is expected to participate at the annual Bike-A-Thon, an event traditionally hosted by the San Fernando East Secondary School, which pedals off this morning from 7 am at the Pleasantville Basketball Court.
The event this year is being staged in memory of the late Noel Luces and is in collaboration with the Rigtec Sonics Cycling Club and the T&T Cycling Federation (TTCF). Luces and his club Rigtec Sonics have always partnered with San Fernando East for the event. In respect, the school saw it fitting to pay tribute to the athlete, who the organisers have said has contributed much to the sport and the community.
The partnership between San Fernando East, Rigtech Sonics and the TTCF is part of an initiative to identify new talent, increase youth involvement in sport, promote the development of the sport and contribute to the health and well-being of all.
Riders should assemble at the basketball court by 6.15 am, where they will be briefed from 6.30 am.
