Na­tion­al cy­clist Njisane Phillip is ex­pect­ed to par­tic­i­pate at the an­nu­al Bike-A-Thon, an event tra­di­tion­al­ly host­ed by the San Fer­nan­do East Sec­ondary School, which ped­als off this morn­ing from 7 am at the Pleas­antville Bas­ket­ball Court.

The event this year is be­ing staged in mem­o­ry of the late Noel Luces and is in col­lab­o­ra­tion with the Rigtec Son­ics Cy­cling Club and the T&T Cy­cling Fed­er­a­tion (TTCF). Luces and his club Rigtec Son­ics have al­ways part­nered with San Fer­nan­do East for the event. In re­spect, the school saw it fit­ting to pay trib­ute to the ath­lete, who the or­gan­is­ers have said has con­tributed much to the sport and the com­mu­ni­ty.

The part­ner­ship be­tween San Fer­nan­do East, Rigtech Son­ics and the TTCF is part of an ini­tia­tive to iden­ti­fy new tal­ent, in­crease youth in­volve­ment in sport, pro­mote the de­vel­op­ment of the sport and con­tribute to the health and well-be­ing of all.

Rid­ers should as­sem­ble at the bas­ket­ball court by 6.15 am, where they will be briefed from 6.30 am.
