Former national fast bowler Alec Burns is now acting in the position of chief selector of the Senior T&T cricket team selection panel.
Burns has replaced former national cricketer Dudnath Ramkessoon, who has taken some time away from the game for health reasons. President of the T&T Cricket Board (TTCB), Azim Bassarath revealed yesterday: "Burns is acting as chairman of the selection panel in the absence of Dudnath Ramkessoon who is not available at the moment. It is a temporary appointment and we expected Ramkeesoon to be back in action by early March.
"We decided to go with Burns because he has served very well for quite a long time and has the necessary experience for the job. He was recommended to us and we went with the selection because we have been hearing good things about Burns all the while. We have been hearing that he makes very good points during the selectors meetings and is very fair when it comes to the job of choosing the best men to play for T&T."
The selection panel also includes Narine Bideshi, Roland Sampath and Kelvin Williams.
Burn's will chair his first meeting very soon, as the selectors sit to choose the T&T team for the upcoming regional First Class and 50 overs tournaments.
