Three Laven­tille men were among 18 peo­ple ar­rest­ed in a 24- hour po­lice ex­er­cise by Cen­tral Di­vi­sion po­lice. The men, whose ages range from 21 to 28, were charged for the il­le­gal pos­ses­sion of a firearm and are ex­pect­ed to be placed on an iden­ti­fi­ca­tion pa­rade.

Ac­cord­ing to re­ports, around 5 am on Mon­day, po­lice led by Snr Supt Du­lalchan and Supt Abra­ham and PC For­ti­ni re­ceived in­for­ma­tion that the men were seen get­ting in­to a car with the weapon.

Po­lice in­ter­cept­ed the men in Fe­lic­i­ty, and found a .38 re­volver loaded with three rounds of am­mu­ni­tion. An hours lat­er, a team of po­lice led by Cpl Ali, PC Guer­ra and PC Nar­ine were on pa­trol along Mon­trose Main Road, Ch­agua­nas when they saw three peo­ple break­ing in­to the home of a re­tired po­lice su­per­in­ten­dent.

They am­bushed the three as they forced open the front door. Two Guyanese na­tion­als were al­so ar­rest­ed for il­le­gal­ly en­ter­ing the coun­try and an­oth­er two peo­ple were held for pos­ses­sion of nar­cotics. Po­lice al­so is­sued 78 tick­ets for var­i­ous traf­fic of­fences.
