The pop­u­lar Kia Around Gas­pa­ree Open Wa­ter Swim will take place on March 10, at 9 am.

This year's 9th an­nu­al swim will start and end on the north­ern side of the is­land, St Ig­natius Bay (Is­land Yacht Char­ters), and go clock­wise around the is­land, a dis­tance of 5,600 me­tres.

Last year, 59 swim­mers took part in the event, in­clud­ing some top teenagers. This year, the man­age­ment of the Trin­i­ty Mas­ters swim club ex­pects 100 swim­mers to take en­try and this will in­clude some top dis­tance swim­mers.

To date, some 25 swim­mers have reg­is­tered and on­ly the first 100 en­trants will be ac­cept­ed. This year's prizes will be for the 1st to 10th placed males and fe­males, as well as first place prizes for all mas­ters swim­mers. Swim­mers will be pro­vid­ed with a Kia Jer­sey, Kia swim cap and a meal and drinks af­ter the race is fin­ished.

Safe­ty is the num­ber-one pri­or­i­ty for the Trin­i­ty Mas­ters swim club and they have al­ready re­served one Coast Guard ves­sel, five mo­tor boats and 20 kayaks for this event. In­vi­ta­tions have al­ready been sent to clubs be­long­ing to the Am­a­teur Swim­ming As­so­ci­a­tion of Trinidad and To­ba­go (ASATT), and in­ter­est­ed swim­mers can al­so ob­tain en­try forms through the fol­low­ing per­sons:
