As ex­pect­ed, top-seed­ed Bre­ana Stampfli took a step to­ward a sec­ond tro­phy of the com­pe­ti­tion when she ad­vanced to the fi­nal of the ladies sin­gles seg­ment of the BGTT Tran­quil­li­ty Open Ten­nis Tour­na­ment, at Tran­quil­li­ty Ten­nis Courts, Wood­brook, yes­ter­day.

Stampfli bare­ly broke a sweat as she record­ed a straight­for­ward two set vic­to­ry (6-3, 6-1) over Kezia Ko­ra­ma of To­ba­go for a berth in­to Sat­ur­day's fi­nal.

She will meet Trevine Sel­l­i­er, who made a classy come-from-be­hind ef­fort (3-6, 6-3, 6-2) in a vic­to­ry over Cindy Kabli.

In the men's semi­fi­nals, Javier Lewis, a na­tion­al play­er who be­came tour­na­ment favourite fol­low­ing two-time cham­pi­on Yohansey Williams' ag­gra­vat­ed in­jury, was de­feat­ed by third-seed­ed Vaughn Wil­son 6-1, 6-4. Wil­son, a dou­bles win­ner, will al­so have a shot at an­oth­er ti­tle in the men's fi­nal on Sat­ur­day when he faces for­mer na­tion­al cham­pi­on Richard Chung.

In the day's most grip­ping en­counter, Chung de­feat­ed na­tion­al play­er Luke De Caires 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.

The Se­nior Vet­er­ans (65+ years) fi­nal was played with Michael Coop­er de­feat­ing An­tho­ny Smith 6-0, 6-0.

Ac­tion con­tin­ues to­day with two 45-and-over Vet­er­ans Sin­gles semi­fi­nal match­es. The two win­ners will meet in the ti­tle match, to­mor­row. From 4 pm, Kendall Cuffy will face Neil Lin­go, while Bri­an Jack­son comes up against Athel­stan Phillips.

Both the men and women's fi­nals will be played to­mor­row from 3 pm and 4 pm, re­spec­tive­ly, as with two vet­er­ans semi­fi­nals.
