Opening batsman Geetendra Sookdeo scored a century for Moosai yesterday at Honeymoon Park, Tunapuna but Queen's Park batsmen fought back to leave the match evenly poised in their round four clash of the T&T Cricket League Premier Division two-day competition.
Batting first, Moosai got to 311 all out behind Sookdeo's knock of 121. National player Kjorn Ottley contributed 49.Anthony Simmons was the pick of the bowlers for Queen's Park, grabbing 4/76. Jesse Bootan (3/97) and Kevon Cooper (2/48) also limited the Moosai batsmen.
The Parkites reply began well, getting to 102/3 at the close. Petrock Nicholas made a half-century (58).At Syne Village, Powergen's left-arm spinner Kavesh Kantasingh picked up 6/50 to bowl out Clarke Road for a dismal 169. The return of Samuel Badree also strengthened the Powergen bowling attack as he took 2/29. Anthony Bramble (98) unfortunately fell two runs shy of a century.
Powergen responded strongly, getting to 189 at the close, with seven wickets in hand. National player Sherwin Ganga top-scored with 72, while Gregory Mahabir is unbeaten on 54.
In a tight match at Bamboo, Comets took a 14-run first innings lead against Seenath's Auto Bamboo.
Batting first, Comets made 188 behind National Under-19 player Stephan Wharwood's 49 and Kevin Stoute's 46. Ryan Baksh (5/49) and Kelvin Jacobs (5/75) grabbed five wickets apiece.
In reply, Bamboo made 174 with V Seenath being left stranded on 34. Zard Clarke was the best bowler for Comets, taking 3/15. In their second innings, Comets got to 23/0 at the close.
