De­pend­ing on the out­come of re­sults last night, the in form An­gus Eve-coached North East Stars will be look­ing to re­gain hold on third spot when it faces Po­lice in the first match of a dou­ble-head­er at the Mar­vin Lee Sta­di­um, Ma­coya, from 5 pm.

The San­gre Grande-based Stars cur­rent­ly has 27 points from 16 match­es in the Dig­i­cel T&T Pro League fol­low­ing wins over the top two teams on the ta­ble lead­ers De­fence Force and sec­ond-placed, re­cent T&T Foot­ball Fed­er­a­tion FA Tro­phy win­ners for a sec­ond straight year Neal & Massy Cale­do­nia AIA.

How­ev­er, last night both De­fence Force and Cale­do­nia AIA faced off at Ma­coya while de­fend­ing cham­pi­ons Di­recTV W Con­nec­tion, fourth with 26 points, had a chance to sur­pass Stars with vic­to­ry over St Ann's Rangers in the first match at Ma­coya, last night.

In to­day's en­counter, Stars, which beat Po­lice 2-1 in the sec­ond round af­ter a 1-1 draw in round one, will no doubt be bank­ing on the in form Cor­nell Glen to se­cure all three points.Glen, who has been in­clud­ed in the So­ca War­riors squad for two in­ter­na­tion­al friend­lies away to Be­lize on Fri­day and Pe­ru, has net­ted in his last three Pro League match­es as well as in his club's two pre­vi­ous show­downs with Po­lice to car­ry his sea­son tal­ly to 14, one be­hind top scor­er De­vorn Jorsling of De­fence Force.

Po­lice, on the oth­er hand, sixth with 14 points, en­ters the match los­er of its last en­counter 2-4 against Cen­tral FC a week ago and will go in­to ac­tion tonight, with­out the sus­pend­ed An­ton Hutchin­son.

Two hours lat­er at Ma­coya, the Cen­tral FC "Sharks" face T&T in what is ex­pect­ed to be an in­ter­est­ing en­counter as well.Both teams have met twice this sea­son in the league with Cen­tral win­ning the first match 2-1 while the oth­er end­ed in a 1-1 draw.
