Cham­pi­on of the in­au­gur­al Na­tion­al Moun­tain Bike Cham­pi­onship win­ner Ja­son Costel­loe added an­oth­er ti­tle to his ca­reer when he cap­tured the Open Di­vi­sion tro­phy at the Mike's Bike MTB Rev­o­lu­tion, which was held at Ch­aguara­mas on Sat­ur­day.

Costel­loe fin­ished in 1:19:27, con­sid­er­ably ahead of his near­est chal­lenger Rishi Ram­lalack, who kept with­in dis­tance from the cham­pi­on un­til the sec­ond half of the race.The race con­sist­ed of four laps, which had Costel­loe and Ram­lalack at the front of the pack ex­chang­ing leads with­in the first two. How­ev­er, by the third, Costel­loe pulled away for a lead which he main­tained un­til the end. Ram­lalack fin­ished just un­der four and a half min­utes be­hind in 1:23:52.

Fin­ish­ing third was 13-year-old Pe­ter Sel­l­i­er, who out­paced rid­ers many years his se­nior, in 1:26:37. There was lit­tle sur­prise as the reign­ing women's na­tion­al moun­tain bike cham­pi­on Maria Good­ing took the crown in the Women's Open Cat­e­go­ry, a three-lap race, in 1:16:22, ahead of An­tigua and Bar­bu­da road cy­cling cham­pi­on Tamiko But­tler, who fin­ished four min­utes be­hind.The Sport Cat­e­go­ry was a short­er course, but per­haps the tough­est course for the di­vi­sion yet. It con­sist­ed of two laps for men aged 17 years and over, and one lap for men be­tween 13 and 16 years, as well as one lap for all women. The over­all win­ners in Sport (men) were Greg Downes with a time of 48 min­utes and 17 sec­onds, fol­lowed by Keive Wil­son and An­tho­ny Shaw. The top three women were Tiffany Abra­ham (first), Mi­ran­da Mor­ton-Git­tens (sec­ond) and Car­oli­na Lu­cio (third).

Chil­dren 12 years and un­der raced a short­er course, and the fastest time for this course was 10 min­utes and 40 sec­onds by Jesse Hospedales who placed first in Boys 9-10.
