Leaders Powergen did not have the best day at the office yesterday at Honeymoon Park, Tunapuna, but it was still enough for them to clinch the National League Premiership Division two-day title. They took ten wickets, that gave them three bonus bowling points, then made 192 runs to earn one bonus batting point. Moosai batted first and got to a mammoth 324 all out.
Out of favour national batsman William Perkins unfortunately fell one run short of a century. Perkins was in an aggressive mood, hitting seven sixes and eight fours. He was ably supported by Kjorn Ottley, who made 51. The best bowlers for Powergen were Sherwin Ganga (4/96) and Vaaroon Samaroo (2/67).In response, Rajindra Chandrika struck 69 to lead Powergen to 192/7 at the close of day one, giving them the precious point they needed to seal the title. Ganga pitched with 52, while Amir Khan grabbed three wickets (3/37).
