For­mer na­tion­al cy­clist Haseem McLean was among the dom­i­nant per­form­ers from Team DPS, when he cap­tured his sixth na­tion­al ti­tle in the keirin event in eight years when the penul­ti­mate day of the 2013 Na­tion­al Track Cy­cling Cham­pi­onship was staged at the Ari­ma Velo­drome, on Sat­ur­day.

McLean got the bet­ter of T&T's Olympic fourth-placed fin­ish­er Njisane Phillip in a tight fin­ish, leav­ing the lat­ter for sil­ver, while Jude Co­dring­ton took third.

Al­so hav­ing yet an­oth­er ter­rif­ic out­ing was ju­nior rid­er Justin Roberts who notched his fourth and fifth na­tion­al ti­tles for 2013 with vic­to­ries in the keirin and scratch races.

Team DPS showed its prowess among the oth­ers in the Elite men's team sprint when Roberts, McLean and Quin­cy Alexan­der left Rigtech Son­ics for the run­ner-up by four sec­onds.

In the Elite women's sprint, Keiana Lester and Ker­liann Welling­ton paired in a nar­row vic­to­ry over Ari­ma Wheel­ers' pair of De­nese Fran­cis and Az­iza Browne. Bike Smith won gold in 38.80 sec­onds, just ahead of Ari­ma Wheel­ers, which fin­ished in 39.21.

The cham­pi­onship came to a close last evening with the team pur­suit and points race events. Up to press time, Rudy Ash­ton had al­ready tak­en a ti­tle, the Elite men's points race, while Bar­ry Luces and Jov­ian Gomez took sec­ond and third, re­spec­tive­ly.
