The Moosai Ladies cruised into the semifinals of the T&T Women's Cricket Association (TTWCA) 30-over knockout competition with a 90-run win over Spice Girls on Sunday behind the all-round heroics of national player Amanda Samaroo.
On May 11, Moosai clinched the 40-over league competition title with a 31-run win over Phoenix. Samaroo was also one of the stars on that day, scoring 64. This time around, Samaroo struck 65 to lead Moosai to 183/2 batting first at Honeymoon Park, El Dorado. Two other national players, Kirbyina Alexander (48) and Leeann Kirby (32 not out), also made valuable contributions. Vanessa Watts was the lone wicket taker for Spice Girls, grabbing 2/32.
In reply, Samaroo's 2/22 helped Moosai limit Spice Girls to 93/9 off their 30 overs. Karishma Ramharack (3/10) and Kamara Ragoobar (2/20) were also among the wickets. Watts also fought hard with the bat, top-scoring with 21.
In other round two matches, Technocrats rolled over MAAAD Rangers by seven wickets and Hibiscus Ladies got past Phoenix Women because Phoenix fielded two unregistered players.
