West Indies offspinner Sunil Narine eclipsed Pakistani Saeed Ajmal to move to number one for the first time of his short career in the latest ICC ODI Bowling Rankings.
Ajmal lost his place after conceding figures of 10-0-71-0 against minnows Ireland recently, dropping from 784 points to 757, which allowed Narine (764) to claim the top spot.
It took the Trinidadian just 28 games to achieve the feat, having snatched 47 wickets at an average of 21.68 and economy of 3.87 since his debut in December 2011.
He became the first West Indian to top the list in ODIs since Curtley Ambrose in 1997, though medium pacer Ian Bradshaw came close when he rose to second in 2006.
Narine (778) is also the number one bowler in the T20Is, ahead of Ajmal (742) and Sri Lankan Mendis (716).
Further down the ODI bowling list for West Indies are Kemar Roach (20th), Ravi Rampaul (26th) and Darren Sammy (28th) while the top ranked regional batsman are Kieron Pollard (32nd) and Chris Gayle (36th).
