A mechanic suspected of the 2009 murder of a murder accused, who was shot dead on the steps of the Rio Claro Magistrates Court, was shot dead in a drive-by at his home yesterday.Agostini Village, Rio Claro residents were jolted by gunshots ringing out at 42-year-old Sherwin Wilson's home and found his body lying face down in his garage.Police said shortly before noon, Wilson was working at his home when a car drove up and someone in the vehicle fired several shots, hitting him in the back and head. He was suspected of shooting Peter Garcia multiple times outside the Rio Claro Magistrates Court in 2009.
Wilson was detained and later released after Garcia's killing as police could not gather enough evidence to charge him with the murder. Garcia had been charged with the murder of chutney promoter Simboonath Kumar. He was also the main suspect in the murders of brothers Jason and Gerard Garcia, Curtis Roy and Wayne Gonzales of Agostini Village, Rio Claro during a wave of attacks in 2009.He eluded capture by hiding out in the Rio Claro forest but subsequently surrendered to police.
