Former national security minister Jack Warner says there is a plot to have "some rogue police officers plant some guns and marijuana all over St Joseph and the person to find it will be Ian Alleyne."
Warner said so during Tuesday's local government campaign meeting of his Independent Liberal Party (ILP) in Diego Martin. Alleyne is the host of CNC3 Crime Watch programme. Alleyne, Warner said, was still being considered as the People's Partnership's candidate for next month's St Joseph by-election. He said when the plot unfolded Alleyne would be seen as a crimebuster to help him become an MP.
Warner also said at an earlier meeting that Nidco boss, Dr Carson Charles, was the PP's candidate for the November 4 by election.Warner said senior police officers were angry he dismissed claims by Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar that his party was seeking to destroy her PP Government."PM, that isn't true. The PP has destroyed itself as under the PP corruption has reached scandalous levels," Warner said.He said such level of corruption did not occur under the former Patrick Manning administration.
He brought the large crown to laughter when he said "if corruption was a sport in the Olympics, this country will get gold, silver and bronze (medals)."Warner said there was growing dissatisfaction among the population under the PP Government. He said senior police officers were angry "and when the police are angry, PM, all fall down."He said they were angry over the existing system for promotion within the service. He said the officers were prepared to take legal action to stall further promotions.
Without giving details, Warner said the ILP would be holding its first women-only platform this weekend.
