The "one strike and you're out" Bail (amendment) 2013 is a very good way to keep the crime rate down in T&T.We, the hardworking, law abiding citizens are tired of hearing about criminals, as soon as they are released from jail, within a week or so are caught robbing someone and in some cases committing more horrendous crimes on innocent people. It is time all these Bills being brought to the Parliament, be passed.
The taxpayers' money goes to good use in funding the rehabilitation programmes for these prisoners which means they are being offered time to reflect and change their lives. We have seen too many killings in this past month and in this joyous season of Christmas it is very depressing.People are scared to go shopping in San Fernando, Chaguanas and Port-of-Spain because they are seeing the same people that were accused of robbery and pick pocketing and they know they could fall victim to them.
It is time to get serious against these repeat offenders. Once you commit a crime that should be it for you.
