The Tobago After Jazz Fringe Festival will run again this year as part of the after party to the Tobago Jazz experience. After a successful launch last year, the 2012 Fringe Festival will once again feature music from some of Trinidad and Tobago's most innovative underground bands including Buzzrock, KIN Sound System, Gyazette, Chromatics and Tobago's own Uku for four nights of original music from genres such as calypso, reggae, rock, soul, dance and electronic.
The bands themselves have funded the Fringe Festival, a drive spearheaded by Kiwan Landreth-Smith, vocalist and lead guitarist of Kin Sound System. John Hussain, lead guitarist for Gyazette, carded to perform at the festival, explains that, "We have so much music and so many talented musicians that never get heard because they don't fit the mainstream formats.
"This is a chance not only for us bands but for the listening public to get a taste of the fresh sounds that are flying below the radar. It is also going to be one amazing four-night after party." The Tobago After Jazz Fringe Festival runs for four nights from Thursday at Dillon's Restaurant, Milford Road, Crown Point.
