The To­ba­go Af­ter Jazz Fringe Fes­ti­val will run again this year as part of the af­ter par­ty to the To­ba­go Jazz ex­pe­ri­ence. Af­ter a suc­cess­ful launch last year, the 2012 Fringe Fes­ti­val will once again fea­ture mu­sic from some of Trinidad and To­ba­go's most in­no­v­a­tive un­der­ground bands in­clud­ing Buz­zrock, KIN Sound Sys­tem, Gyazette, Chro­mat­ics and To­ba­go's own Uku for four nights of orig­i­nal mu­sic from gen­res such as ca­lyp­so, reg­gae, rock, soul, dance and elec­tron­ic.

The bands them­selves have fund­ed the Fringe Fes­ti­val, a dri­ve spear­head­ed by Ki­wan Lan­dreth-Smith, vo­cal­ist and lead gui­tarist of Kin Sound Sys­tem. John Hus­sain, lead gui­tarist for Gyazette, card­ed to per­form at the fes­ti­val, ex­plains that, "We have so much mu­sic and so many tal­ent­ed mu­si­cians that nev­er get heard be­cause they don't fit the main­stream for­mats.

"This is a chance not on­ly for us bands but for the lis­ten­ing pub­lic to get a taste of the fresh sounds that are fly­ing be­low the radar. It is al­so go­ing to be one amaz­ing four-night af­ter par­ty." The To­ba­go Af­ter Jazz Fringe Fes­ti­val runs for four nights from Thurs­day at Dil­lon's Restau­rant, Mil­ford Road, Crown Point.
