Cale­do­nia Clip­pers record­ed their sec­ond con­sec­u­tive win in the ear­ly stages of the North Zone Bas­ket­ball Com­mis­sion First Di­vi­sion when they edged Strak­er Nets 79-76, at the Jean Pierre Com­plex, Wright­son Road, on Thurs­day evening. The win came just over a week fol­low­ing their 80-73 suc­cess over Po­lice, which shows ini­tial signs of the team be­ing one of the favourites to take the ti­tle. This time, how­ev­er, cap­tain Ker­win Lares did not lead the team but the gi­ant struc­ture of cen­tre Miguel Williams was on top of the game fin­ish­ing on 20 points, in a classy dis­play from the Clip­pers team. Cale­do­nia Clip­pers were down 46-34 at half time but im­proved dras­ti­cal­ly to come back to seal the two points.

Williams was fol­lowed by Ak­il Painter who took 17 points. Strak­er Nets' Mario Davis and Sadi­ki Guer­ra end­ed with 16 and 14 points, re­spec­tive­ly. In the Sec­ond Di­vi­sion, Strak­er Nets were again in ac­tion, and record­ed a 73-58 vic­to­ry over Blink Trail­blaz­ers, to win their sec­ond match in suc­ces­sion in the di­vi­sion. Ja­mal Clarke bagged 16 points, fol­lowed by Dwayne Ot­t­ley who took 13 points. Tal­ent­ed for­ward Ju­vani An­drews led Trail­blaz­ers with 16 points. Ac­tion con­tin­ued at the Jean Pierre Com­plex, last evening with a First Di­vi­sion, Sec­ond Di­vi­sion and a Women's Di­vi­sion match. To­mor­row (Tues­day), Sec­ond Di­vi­sion Rap­tors will take on Vet­er­ans from 6.30 pm, fol­lowed by a First Di­vi­sion clash be­tween reign­ing cham­pi­ons and ti­tle favourites De­fence Force and San Juan War­riors at 8 pm. Both match­es will be con­test­ed at the same venue.
