East In­di­an singers Usuff Khan, Sun­dar Popo, KB Singh, Isaac Yankaran, Lakhan Ka­reeya, Sam Boodram, Rakesh Yankaran, Rasi­ka Din­di­al, So­han Gild­harie, Jameer Ho­sein, Rik­ki Jai, Son­ny Mann and Bas­deo Lap­po will be salut­ed through im­per­son­ation at the an­nu­al Mere Desh cel­e­bra­tions. Mere Desh com­mit­tee co-or­di­na­tor Ajeet Praim­s­ingh said those en­ter­ing the com­pe­ti­tion would have "to sing alike, dress alike and act alike." The 22nd an­nu­al cel­e­bra­tions will be held on In­di­an Ar­rival Day, at Mid-Cen­tre Mall carpark in Ch­agua­nas. May­or of Ch­agua­nas Or­lan­do Nages­sar will de­liv­er the fea­ture ad­dress. "This project is to bring back to all, es­pe­cial­ly our young peo­ple, to un­der­stand and ap­pre­ci­ate the role and con­tri­bu­tion these artistes have made to our coun­try, es­pe­cial­ly as we cel­e­brate the 50th an­niver­sary of In­de­pen­dence of Trinidad and To­ba­go," Praim­s­ingh said.

In­vi­ta­tions to our school­child­ren are en­dorsed for them to ap­pre­ci­ate the cul­tur­al and re­li­gious di­ver­si­ty of Trinidad and To­ba­go. "Our pro­gramme is de­signed so that our so­cial re­searchers and cul­tur­al lovers would be able to look at the ap­proach we have tak­en to cel­e­brate In­di­an Ar­rival Day," Praim­s­ingh added. Mod­ern Rhythms led by Raw­tee Ram­roop, mem­bers of Priya Dance Group, Desh Pre­mee Dance Group, Shi Shankar Dance Com­pa­ny and tas­sa-drum­mers will pro­vide en­ter­tain­ment. The Li­ons Club of Ch­agua­nas will pro­vide free med­ical check-ups.
