It is the year of ju­bilee, T&T is cel­e­brat­ing 50 years of In­de­pen­dence and the T&T Coun­cil of Church­es and the Full Gospel Busi­ness­men Fel­low­ship are mak­ing this mile­stone felt through the Over­flow­ing of Thank­ful­ness Com­mis­sion. The Com­mis­sion is on a mis­sion to trav­el through­out T&T to spread the word of God. Com­mit­tee mem­ber Pas­tor Ram­dath Nan­goo said the Com­mis­sion was launched on Jan­u­ary 22 at the Crowne Plaza Ho­tel, and has planned an agen­da of events for the year. "We have had the first event on March 17 in Skin­ner's Park, San Fer­nan­do, and the sec­ond one was held last Sat­ur­day at the Lange Park Recre­ation Grounds in Ch­agua­nas," said Nan­goo. "We al­so held an Ace Award pro­gramme at NA­PA in the month in which we award­ed be­liev­ers in the ar­eas of pas­tor­ship, sports mu­sic and ed­u­ca­tion."

Those recog­nised were Sean Daniel, Nicole Baloos­ingh-Hold­er, min­is­ters Calile Gan­gas­ingh and Al­lis­ter Alexan­der and for­mer west In­dies Crick­eter, Ran­ji Nanan. He says there are events card­ed for Ju­ly 28 at the Na­tion­al Sta­di­um, Ju­ly 29 at the Dwight Yorke Sta­di­um in To­ba­go, a chil­dren's event on Ju­ly 7 and women's con­fer­ence in Sep­tem­ber. Oth­er events to the year's end will be an­nounced lat­er in the year. "All these events are free and will fea­ture in­ter­na­tion­al artistes, speak­ers and min­is­ters. 'We have al­ready had in­ter­na­tion­al gospel singer Paul Wilbur, min­is­ter Chuck Pierce, Vi­jay Bene­dict-for­mer Bol­ly­wood singer and min­is­ter Dr Paul Dhi­nakaran," says Nan­goo. "We just want peo­ple to come out and en­joy be­ing in the pres­ence of God. We are grate­ful we have made it this far since be­com­ing an in­de­pen­dent na­tion and we are re­al­ly just thank­ing God for keep­ing T&T in the midst of all that we have faced over the years and are still fac­ing," he said.
