It is the year of jubilee, T&T is celebrating 50 years of Independence and the T&T Council of Churches and the Full Gospel Businessmen Fellowship are making this milestone felt through the Overflowing of Thankfulness Commission. The Commission is on a mission to travel throughout T&T to spread the word of God. Committee member Pastor Ramdath Nangoo said the Commission was launched on January 22 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, and has planned an agenda of events for the year. "We have had the first event on March 17 in Skinner's Park, San Fernando, and the second one was held last Saturday at the Lange Park Recreation Grounds in Chaguanas," said Nangoo. "We also held an Ace Award programme at NAPA in the month in which we awarded believers in the areas of pastorship, sports music and education."
Those recognised were Sean Daniel, Nicole Baloosingh-Holder, ministers Calile Gangasingh and Allister Alexander and former west Indies Cricketer, Ranji Nanan. He says there are events carded for July 28 at the National Stadium, July 29 at the Dwight Yorke Stadium in Tobago, a children's event on July 7 and women's conference in September. Other events to the year's end will be announced later in the year. "All these events are free and will feature international artistes, speakers and ministers. 'We have already had international gospel singer Paul Wilbur, minister Chuck Pierce, Vijay Benedict-former Bollywood singer and minister Dr Paul Dhinakaran," says Nangoo. "We just want people to come out and enjoy being in the presence of God. We are grateful we have made it this far since becoming an independent nation and we are really just thanking God for keeping T&T in the midst of all that we have faced over the years and are still facing," he said.
