Pat­na/Riv­er Es­tate Gov­er­ment Pri­ma­ry School won both the girls' and mixed cat­e­gories when the T&T Hock­ey Board held its Pri­ma­ry Schools Skills Awards Test­ing at the Na­tion­al Hock­ey Cen­tre, Tacarigua, on Thurs­day.

In the girls' com­pe­ti­tion, Pat­na/Riv­er Es­tate Gov­ern­ment won ahead of Guico Gov­ern­ment and War­rior An­gels II of Mu­cu­rapo Girls' RC, while in the mixed com­pe­ti­tion, Pat­na/Riv­er Es­tate Gov­ern­ment topped ahead of neigh­bours, Crys­tal Stream Gov­ern­ment and Hokett Bap­tist. How­ev­er, in the boys' com­pe­ti­tion, San­gre Grande Sev­enth Day Ad­ven­tist got the bet­ter of Pat­na/Riv­er Es­tate Gov­ern­ment while New­town Boys' RC, took third.

The test­ing com­prised nine sta­tions de­signed to test a va­ri­ety of skills such as pass­ing, drib­bling, shoot­ing and ball jug­gling. Ac­cord­ing to a re­lease from the T&THB, the pur­pose of this was to col­lec­tive­ly as­sess the com­pe­tence of pri­ma­ry school stu­dents to ex­e­cute the var­i­ous skills that are be­ing taught to them over the course of the pro­gramme in ac­cor­dance with the T&THB's Youth De­vel­op­ment Plan.
