"E ku Odun Ifa o!" was the greeting that reverberated throughout Nigeria, as thousands gathered in Ile-Ife on the occasion of the World Ifa Festival or the Yoruba New Year Celebration that took place on June 2 and 3. The festival was attended by many devotees from all over the world and was conducted under the patronage of Araba Agbaye Adisa Makoranwale, spiritual head of the Tradition of Ifa worldwide. In T&T, several enclaves of Ifa/Orisha worship celebrated simultaneously this significant milestone on the Ifa calendar-a time of spiritual renewal for the Orisha community. One of the highlights of the festival was the annual reading, which commenced at midnight on June 2 and continued into the wee hours of the morning. This annual reading is looked forward to with anticipation as it gives guidelines for devotees on how they should conduct their affairs for the coming year.
