"E ku Odun Ifa o!" was the greet­ing that re­ver­ber­at­ed through­out Nige­ria, as thou­sands gath­ered in Ile-Ife on the oc­ca­sion of the World Ifa Fes­ti­val or the Yoru­ba New Year Cel­e­bra­tion that took place on June 2 and 3. The fes­ti­val was at­tend­ed by many devo­tees from all over the world and was con­duct­ed un­der the pa­tron­age of Ara­ba Ag­baye Adisa Mako­ran­wale, spir­i­tu­al head of the Tra­di­tion of Ifa world­wide. In T&T, sev­er­al en­claves of Ifa/Or­isha wor­ship cel­e­brat­ed si­mul­ta­ne­ous­ly this sig­nif­i­cant mile­stone on the Ifa cal­en­dar-a time of spir­i­tu­al re­new­al for the Or­isha com­mu­ni­ty. One of the high­lights of the fes­ti­val was the an­nu­al read­ing, which com­menced at mid­night on June 2 and con­tin­ued in­to the wee hours of the morn­ing. This an­nu­al read­ing is looked for­ward to with an­tic­i­pa­tion as it gives guide­lines for devo­tees on how they should con­duct their af­fairs for the com­ing year.
