San Fernando East MP Patrick Manning says the people of Trinidad and Tobago will be the real losers following the Cabinet reshuffle announced by Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar on Friday. Manning is recuperating in Washington, DC, United States, after he suffered a mild stroke at his San Fernando home on January 24. He is expected to return to T&T shortly.
On his Facebook wall, Manning said the Cabinet reshuffle was a move to save face by the 25-month-old People's Partnership government. "The innocent people of Trinidad and Tobago are the losers (as) this government continues to fail the people," Manning said.
It was the second Cabinet reshuffle made by Persad-Bissessar in two years. Manning said, "In a losing game, with the score stacked up against you and it is hopeless, at half-time the coach switches the team to only save face. "In the end, the game is lost when the final whistle blows." Persad-Bissessar said the changes were made to satisfy "an impatient and expectant population."
