Prime Min­is­ter Kam­la Per­sad-Bisses­sar is ex­pect­ed to chair her sec­ond Cab­i­net meet­ing in To­ba­go in less than two months next week Thurs­day. Per­sad-Bisses­sar and mem­bers of her Cab­i­net met in To­ba­go on May 31. She al­so held a re­treat of her MPs lat­er that day. The Prime Min­is­ter opened the Mag­dale­na Re­sort Ho­tel on June 1 and al­so ad­dressed a sec­ond an­niver­sary ral­ly of the Peo­ple's Part­ner­ship on June 2. It was dur­ing that ral­ly that PP mem­ber par­ty, the To­ba­go Or­gan­i­sa­tion of the Peo­ple launched its cam­paign for the 2013 THA elec­tions.

Per­sad-Bisses­sar and her Cab­i­net will be in To­ba­go for three days as the Cab­i­net goes on re­treat on Fri­day and a Par­lia­ment work­shop on Sat­ur­day. Op­po­si­tion MPs are al­so ex­pect­ed to par­tic­i­pate in the work­shop, which will be ad­dressed by the Prime Min­is­ter and Op­po­si­tion Leader Dr Kei­th Row­ley. It is be­ing or­gan­ised by the Par­lia­ment and the Na­tion­al Au­tho­ris­ing Of­fi­cer, Min­is­ter of Plan­ning and Sus­tain­able De­vel­op­ment and the Del­e­ga­tion of the Eu­ro­pean Union.

A re­lease is­sued by the Par­lia­ment yes­ter­day said the ini­tia­tive seeks to strength­en the func­tion­ing of the Par­lia­ment in the ar­eas of scruti­ny and im­ple­men­ta­tion of the bud­get and the ad­min­is­tra­tion of gov­ern­ment de­part­ments. The work­shop takes place at Mag­dale­na Beach Re­sort, Low­lands. Ma­jor de­ci­sions af­fect­ing the peo­ple of To­ba­go di­rect­ly are ex­pect­ed to be an­nounced af­ter the Cab­i­net meet­ing, sources have said.
