Ja­maica's net­ballers have ar­rived in T&T con­fi­dent of re­cap­tur­ing cham­pi­onships ho­n­ours in the Amer­i­c­as Fed­er­a­tion of Net­ball As­so­ci­a­tions (AF­NA) Cham­pi­onships sched­uled to start to­day. The Sun­shine Girls, who last par­tic­i­pat­ed in the AF­NA in 2008, shared that they were ready to re­gain the cham­pi­onship ti­tle of a tour­na­ment they once ruled. Since 1989, the Ja­maicans have dom­i­nat­ed the AF­NA cham­pi­onship and are favourites along with hosts and de­fend­ing cham­pi­ons T&T in the event at the Jean Pierre Com­plex. "Def­i­nite­ly I'm feel­ing it. I think Ja­maica in the past have re­al­ly placed them­selves there know­ing that they are the top team in the Caribbean," said Oberon Pit­ter­son on the hunt for vic­to­ry as Ja­maica's coach af­ter win­ning the tour­na­ment as a play­er. Teams will com­pete for an im­proved world net­ball rank­ing as well as qual­i­fi­ca­tion for the 2014 Com­mon­wealth Games to be held in Glas­gow, Scot­land. (CMC)
