Promising Under-16 golfers Ysabelle Lawrence and Dinesh Jackree will compete alongside top players from 72 other countries at the prestigious Junior Open Championship at Fairhaven Golf Club in Lancashire, England beginning today.
This annual three-day event is held immediately before the British Open and puts junior golfers on show to the widest global audience. Many of the current well known professional golfers emerged from past Junior Open Championships. After the junior championship, the competing juniors will follow the players of the British Open on the first two days. The T&T team is being managed by the T& T Golf Association President Kenny Attai on this tour.
Every year the world governing body for golf, the R & A, invites two Under 16 juniors from the country affiliates around the world to participate. The Junior Championship is an opportunity for the stars of tomorrow to shine in a truly international event in a friendly yet competitive environment. The Fairhaven Golf Club is located in Fleetwood, Lancashire. The 6817-yard, PAR 74 course is noted for its 122 bunkers challenge that will test the skills of the juniors in magnificent links type terrain.
