First of all, con­grat­u­la­tions to Keshorn Wal­cott for his fan­tas­tic come-from-be­hind, last-gasp vic­to­ry in the javelin at the World Ju­nior Cham­pi­onships in Spain. Well done, young man. How­ev­er, I'm read­ing and hear­ing that Wal­cott is the first T&T ath­lete to win gold at a glob­al meet in a field event. But the last time I heard, the long jump is a field event and fe­males are ath­letes, too. So that ho­n­our goes to Rhon­da Watkins who won the long jump at the 2006 World Ju­niors in Bei­jing, Chi­na.
