A 29-year-old Guyanese woman and two men appeared yesterday in the San Fernando Magistrate Court charged with the murder of a 69-year-old Gasparillo pensioner. Natalie King, Anthony Allemaney and Neil Slater, also known as Harry, stood before acting Deputy Chief Magistrate Rajendra Rambachan in the San Fernando First Court, accused of murdering retired electrical technician Andre Joachim. King, whose local address was given as Co-operative Street, Spring Village, Valsayn, also faces nine other charges, under Section 24 of the Larceny Offences Act. The trio stood expressionless as Rambachan read the charge that on June 29, they, together with other persons, at No 4 Fifth Street, Springland, Gasparillo, in the county of Victoria, murdered Andre Joachim. The accused were not called upon to plead as the charge was laid indictably.
Both King and Allemaney were represented by legal aid attorneys, Giselle Landau and Lisa Singh, while Slater's lawyer, Sunesh Singh, was absent. Court prosecutor Ramdath Phillip informed the court that a State counsel was yet to be appointed.
Rambachan then remanded Allemaney and Slater into custody for 20 days.Phillip said the file would be submitted today. The trio is schedule to reappear on August 13. However, as the men were taken back to the holding bay of the court, Rambachan told King she had other matters to tend to which included offences which occurred between October 2007 to March 2011.
They include:
• That on November 27, 2009, in St Joseph, King allegedly stole $2,600 from Kevin Singh;
• on September 21, 2007, in Tacarigua she allegedly stole $3,000 from Carol Ann Paul;
• between September 29 and October 1, 2007, in Tacarigua, she allegedly stole $5,000 from Nikita St Clair;
• on September 28, 2007, at Curepe, she allegedly stole $6,500, from Shenelle James;
• during the period March 10 2009 to March 12,2009, at Tunapuna, she allegedly stole $3,000 from Jason Bailey; and
• on May 21 2010, in St Joseph, she allegedly stole $3,200 from Cathy Ann Thomas.
These matters were transferred to the Tunapuna Magistrate Court where she is expected to appear on July 23. King is also scheduled to appear before an Arima magistrate on July 26, for charges pertaining to the robbery of Sharon Francis, from whom she allegedly stole $3,500 in Arouca on October 20, 2007. On April 18, 2008 at Trincity, she allegedly stole $4,000 from Nekia Forde and on March 27, 2011 she is accused of stealing $3,500, a gold chain, a gold ring, two gold anklets and used personal violence from Diana Bartholomew, while at the Corner Pocket Hotel, Golden Grove Road, Arouca. Rambachan told her of her right to apply to the judge in chambers for bail on the larceny offences but informed her bail was not permissible for the offence of murder. On June 29 last, Joachim, a father of ten, was found bound and gagged at his home. According to a police report, a woman with a Guyanese accent, contacted the Gasparillo Police to report a robbery in progress at Joachim's house.
When officers arrived, no one was there except for Joachim's corpse. An autopsy revealed Joachim died as a result of suffocation.
