Po­lice ex­er­cis­es in Tu­na­puna and Biche be­tween Tues­day and yes­ter­day led to 13 peo­ple be­ing ar­rest­ed, the seizure of a gun, and quan­ti­ties of am­mu­ni­tion and mar­i­jua­na. Around 7.30 pm on Tues­day, of­fi­cers of the Tu­na­puna CID in­clud­ing In­sp Seecha­ran, Sgt Sinanan, Cpl Roopchan and PC Pereira were on mo­bile pa­trol when they in­ter­cept­ed a Nis­san AD Wag­on with two oc­cu­pants along Cau­ra Roy­al Road, El Do­ra­do.

Af­ter a search, po­lice ar­rest­ed a 40-year old man from El Do­ra­do and a 23-year old woman of San­ta Cruz af­ter they re­cov­ered a .357 Tau­rus re­volver in the car. Up to yes­ter­day, the sus­pects re­mained in cus­tody at the Tu­na­puna sta­tion. Be­tween 3 am and 8 am on Wednes­day, po­lice led by ASP Neville Sankar, in­clud­ing In­sps Paul and Ram­per­sad, and Sgts Lutch­man and Sookdeo, ex­e­cut­ed three search war­rants in the Biche area and ar­rest­ed 13 peo­ple for pos­ses­sion of mar­i­jua­na and am­mu­ni­tion.

Ten peo­ple were ar­rest­ed af­ter they were found with three ki­los of mar­i­jua­na, while three oth­ers were ar­rest­ed for pos­ses­sion of two 12-gauge car­tridges. The 13 sus­pects are ex­pect­ed to ap­pear in court to­day.
