A police officer has appeared in court accused of forcing a couple to withdraw $1,000 from an Automatic Teller Machine (ATM) in Chaguaramas. Steve Sahadeo, of Princes Town appeared before a magistrate in the Port-of-Spain court on Monday charged with misconduct in public office. He was granted $50,000 bail after he pleaded not guilty.
The charge against Sahadeo, a policeman for 18 years, stemmed from an incident in which a couple was allegedly forced to withdraw money from an ATM on November 26, 2011 at Western Main Road, Chaguaramas. The matter was adjourned to August 30.
