Watch­ing the Prime Min­is­ter last night try­ing to ex­plain away the fi­as­co of sec­tion 34 was par­tic­u­lar­ly painful for for­mer PP sup­port­ers. She looked and sound­ed gen­uine and com­pas­sion­ate. She ob­vi­ous­ly wants to make things right the sec­ond time around, once again.

I'm con­vinced she is a good per­son but not a good leader, who would in­stinc­tive­ly sur­round them­selves with ca­pa­ble, moral­ly in­fused in­di­vid­u­als. There are sim­ply too many syco­phan­tic poseurs in lead­er­ship po­si­tions in the PP whose main con­cern is the con­sol­i­da­tion of pow­er, po­si­tion, pres­tige and all that flows from it. When you re­place sub­stance with flair, moral­i­ty with util­i­ty and truth with ex­pe­di­en­cy you get what you get.
