The T&T Crick­et Board (TTCB) will be host­ing a spe­cial event to com­mem­o­rate the 50th an­niver­sary of In­de­pen­dence and at this event will be ho­n­our­ing fifty top crick­eters. This event will be held to­mor­row at the Ball­room of the Crowne Plaza Ho­tel, Wright­son Road, Port of Spain and is be­ing done with the bless­ings of the Min­istry of Plan­ning and Sus­tain­able De­vel­op­ment. Ac­cord­ing to ex­ec­u­tive mem­ber of the TTCB, Bal­dath Ma­habir: "Sup­port is al­so be­ing giv­en by the Sport Com­pa­ny of T&T Ltd and the Na­tion­al Gas Com­pa­ny of T&T Ltd. The guest list is head­ed by the pa­tron of the or­gan­i­sa­tion, Pres­i­dent George Maxwell Richards, and the Ho­n­ourable Prime Min­is­ter Kam­la Per­sad-Bisses­sar among oth­er dig­ni­taries. At the func­tion the TTCB will name fifty of the na­tion's out­stand­ing crick­eters and crick­et ad­min­is­tra­tors for the pe­ri­od 1962-2012."

The fea­ture speak­er will be Sir Rev­erend Wes­ley Hall, for­mer West In­dies fast bowler and WICB Pres­i­dent, who not on­ly rep­re­sent­ed T&T at re­gion­al lev­el but al­so con­tributed to the coun­try's crick­et de­vel­op­ment by way of his to­tal in­volve­ment in the his­toric and suc­cess­ful Wes Hall Youth Crick­et League in the late six­ties and ear­ly sev­en­ties. More than 400 guests and rep­re­sen­ta­tives of the play­ers and of­fi­cials of the past fifty years are ex­pect­ed to at­tend and re­live some glo­ri­ous mo­ments of this coun­try's rich crick­et­ing her­itage. Among some of the for­mer crick­eters fly­ing in for the event are Ire­land coach Phil Sim­mons, Cay­man Is­lands coach Theo Cuffy and Cana­da coach Gus Lo­gie.
