Of­fi­cers in­ves­ti­gat­ing Wednes­day's mur­der of a Barataria man are yet to es­tab­lish a mo­tive for the killing. The dead man has been iden­ti­fied as Ros­ton Grif­fith, 22, of 12th Street. His killing brought the coun­try's mur­der toll to 308 for the year. Grif­fith was gunned down at around 9.15 pm on his way to pur­chase din­ner at a food out­let. The shoot­ing took place min­utes af­ter Grif­fith left his house and po­lice be­lieve his killers were in a car ly­ing in wait.

Res­i­dents who heard the gun­shots, alert­ed po­lice of­fi­cers who rushed Grif­fith to the Er­ic Williams Med­ical Sci­ences Com­plex, Mt Hope, where he was pro­nounced dead on ar­rival.
