The Dwight Yorke Sta­di­um in Ba­co­let, To­ba­go, is to be giv­en a mul­ti-mil­lion facelift. Chief Sec­re­tary of the To­ba­go House of As­sem­bly (THA) Orville Lon­don said the sta­di­um, built un­der a Build Own Lease Trans­fer (BOLT) arrange­ment, was still un­der the ad­min­is­tra­tion of the Min­istry of Sport which was some­thing THA ad­min­is­tra­tions had tried to rec­ti­fy.

He said the sta­di­um was still not owned by the Gov­ern­ment but by the fi­nanciers. Lon­don said it would un­der­go ma­jor re­pairs.

He said the en­tire foot­ball field would be dug up and re­done while the ath­let­ic track would be tak­en up and re­laid. He said the drainage of the foot­ball field was un­sat­is­fac­to­ry.He said work at the sta­di­um would be­gin next week and would take an es­ti­mat­ed three months to com­plete.

Un­for­tu­nate­ly, he said, the up­com­ing ath­let­ic sea­son would be dis­rupt­ed but the re­pairs must be done to bring it to an ac­cept­able stan­dard.
