T&T's national women volleyballers Channon Thompson, Sinead Jack and Krystle Esdelle of Poland's AZS Bialystok picked up their first win of the season in the Poland Plus Liga Kobiet when they defeated Siodemka Legionovia in four sets on Sunday.
Losers of their first seven matches to start the league season, Bialystok ended its barren run with a 25-17, 25-21, 20-25, 25-22 victory to climb off the base of the ten-team table with six points, the same as its opponent and GCB Bydgoszcz and 14 behind table-toppers BKS Bielsko-Biala.
On Friday the T&T players will go after a second straight win with Bialystock when it faces fourth-placed Atom Trefl Sopot which beat Budowlani Lodz 25-20, 27-25, 27-25 to be one of three clubs, second on the table with 18 points.
Over in Finland in the Naisten Liiga, T&T's Darlene Ramdin and Delana Mitchell also got their first win in six matches when they stunned table leaders HPK, 25-16, 26-24, 25-22.
The win was the third in nine league matches for Pieksamaki to improve to eight points from nine matches and seventh on the nine-team table ahead of its meeting with second-placed LP Kangasala on Sunday.
Despite the loss, HPK remained top with 27 points from 11 matches, while Kangasala is next with 19, one more than LP Salo.
In Portugal, T&T's lone professional men's player, Marc-Anthony Honore and his SL Benfica, the three-time Portuguese Premier Division champions will go in search of its 11th straight victory to end the first round when it faces seventh place AA Espinho on Saturday followed by a meeting a day later with fourth-placed Castelo da Maia.
