The 2011 Car­ni­val scene may have shift­ed a lot to oth­er coun­tries but the ac­tion still con­tin­ues on a much small­er scale in dif­fer­ent parts of the is­land.My birth­day was on April 3 and I found my­self in San­gre Grande, an area where I went to school for five years. This time around it wasn't to be taught aca­d­e­mics but rather to hear and see The Mil­lion­aire Fam­i­ly sing.Led by for­mer pro­mot­er, John Michael Al­i­bo­cas seems to be tak­ing this group of young artistes on an ex­cit­ing ride to fame and for­tune. They are mov­ing fast, and mov­ing in the right di­rec­tion.The Mil­lion­aire Fam­i­ly per­formed at the Af­ter Dark Pub, the pre­mier show­place in the dis­trict, to a packed house which was pa­tient­ly await­ing them.

What was im­pres­sive was the VIP sec­tion that was el­e­gant­ly put away for the ea­ger­ly await­ed ar­rival.The Af­ter Dark folk fur­nished the space with many com­forts in­clud­ing a cozy couch set, dec­o­rat­ed the sec­tion with plants, and pro­vid­ed a bot­tled wa­ter ser­vice, stuff many pro­mot­ers don't seem to af­ford many artistes.The Mil­lion­aire Fam­i­ly, which in­cludes Ker­ry John, Makavel­li, Or­lan­do Oc­tave, Fad­da Moses and Jah Mel, seems set for Fire fete in Cana­da at the end of this month.
