Former attorney general Ramesh Lawrence Maharaj, SC, is to represent Clico policyholders in legal proceedings against the Government.This was revealed in a statement issued by the United Clico Policyholders yesterday. The legal action is intended to challenge a Government decision to pay the policyholders principal balance of the money without interest over a 20-year period.Maharaj is expected to return from London to address a news conference on the matter next week Thursday.Details of the legal proceedings to be filed would be announced at the news conference. The time and venue is yet to be announced.Maharaj is expected to be assisted by two leading Queen's Counsel in the matter.
