Works and Transport Minister Jack Warner is in support of his driver facing the full brunt of law for failing to wear his seatbelts. However, Warner believes that he was targeted by police offices who were on duty along the Priority Bus Route (PBR) on Friday. The incident occurred in the vicinity of St Joseph.
Police officers on exercise reportedly pulled over the heavily tinted jeep and upon conducting investigations noticed that Warner's driver, Sharaz Khan, was not wearing his seatbelt. At the time Warner was seated in the back seat of the vehicle.Khan was subsequently issued with a ticket for the offence.Commenting on the incident yesterday, Warner agreed that the law must not be violated, but accused the police officers of failing to stop other drivers from using the PBR illegally and for not enforcing the seatbelt law with other drivers.A first time seat belt offender is liable to a $1,000 fine.
