Two cousins were killed at their O'Meara Road home, Arima, yesterday in what police described as a hit.Christopher Joseph, 24, a taxi driver, and Nyron Johnson, 21, a salesman, died on the spot.Their deaths pushed the murder toll to 125 for the year.A report said that around 1 am, two gunmen shouted "police, police" from outside the cousins' home.The gunmen then kicked down the front door and began to question Joseph and Johnson as to their identity.They then opened fire on the men. Joseph and Johnson collapsed on the ground in a pool of blood. A woman, who was also in the house during the incident, escaped.
Residents who heard the noise immediately notified the police.The bodies were viewed by the district medical officer and ordered removed to the Forensic Science Centre.Detectives said the victims recently had an altercation with some men in the area.In a brief interview at their Arima home, relatives told the Guardian that the men were threatened on Saturday after the argument.Up to late yesterday evening, no suspects were apprehended.Officers of the Region Two Homicide Bureau are continuing investigations.
