The West Indies cricket selectors are now very famous for defying all logic. Are the current players the core of the team they are building for the future? It is all well and good that players are not allowed to dictate to the coach and manager nor be disruptive. And this should have been stamped out long before.
The WICB head has stated that they are not about spiting players, so would he be so kind to say why Daren Ganga is not the captain of the Test team?
If Darren Sammy was made captain because of existing circumstances, how long will the team be asked to carry him? How can both he and Dwayne Bravo play at the same time? Clearly there are players on the team who are not of the quality required for a future WI team. Sachin Tendulkar was taken from school cricket at the age of 16 to play for India. Shahid Afridi was recalled from Pakistan's youth tour of the Caribbean to play for the senior team. That is the sort of long-term investment our selectors should have in mind.
Sticking with players who are not up to it makes it worse for the players themselves. Replacement players at the recent World Cup and keeping this losing bunch of players are being spiteful to West Indies cricket.
The selectors have been making excuses for far too long and in order to have a new thinking, a new plan, we must have new selectors.
