It disturbed me a great deal when a good friend of mine complained to me about the frivolous reasons that driving examiners use as excuses for failing candidates.Whoever heard of turning one's head at the wrong time or wearing the wrong jersey as valid reasons for failing someone? Is accu- racy of body movement being tested or accuracy of driving being tested? There is also the issue of gender equity. If there is bias concerning feminine attire then we should all become Muslims and wear hijabs and cover all our assets if the male examiners cannot control their urges.
Perhaps female driving examiners should be hired if there is indiscrimination being exercised by certain individuals in the Licensing Department. In addition, it is also expensive for candidates to have to pay each time they are informed that they have failed the exam, especially for the most arbitrary of reasons.Whereas bribery might be considered as an option for some, it obviously would not work for the rest of us ordinary citizens. Can someone in authority investigate this matter and inform candidates, in writing, what are the valid reasons for failing a driving exam? Why not include these in the theory exam so that unwitting candidates would be spared unnecessary time, money and pain.
