Cricket administrator at the Queen's Park Cricket club, Bryan Davis says unity played a major hand in his team winning the treble in local cricket. Queen's Park Cricket Club won the domestic T20 title on Sunday night defeating PowerGen by 92 runs in the finals at Guaracara Park. This was after winning the Eastern Credit Union Premiership title and the Sunday league earlier in the season. Davis who is also the technical advisor at Queen's Park said: "There cannot be one thing that leads a team to success.
In our case, I think the team unity, right spirit and hard work at practice is what led to our success. "The coach and the trainer as well as the manager did a fantastic job in getting the guys to go out there and perform and today they must take a lot of the praise. Coach David Furlonge was very good all season, trainer Ishwar Maraj worked the guys very hard and kept them in a state of readiness for matches. "We had the right balance of youth and maturity and it paid off for us in the end."
Davis considered one of the best cricket coaches in this country added: We have a very good development programme at the club and we have a number of very good players coming through at the moment. We normally lose a number of players during the season to the national team and the West Indies team but we have good reserves coming through to make sure we perform at a certain level. "This says a lot of our development programme and we are very happy with our structure at the moment.
We have some very exciting players like Justin Guillen, Akeil Hosein and Sunil Narine coming through and we will continue to provide top rated cricketers at our club." Davis ended by saying the structure of the domestic cricket this season also helped the club a lot. "The structure of the domestic season allowed for us to concentrate on one format at a time and we were able to plan accordingly." The Sunday league 50 overs was played first and this was followed by the league series and then the T20.
