GEORGIA-The recent Sunday Afternoon Tea & Fashion Salon and Silent Auction was a signature event in the Cafe (Caribbean American Fashion Exchange) 2011 programme which featured a full weekend of activities that included a tour of AmericasMart Atlanta during the June Market, and a follow-up one-on-one clinic with industry veterans, Pepper and Howard Berkowitz of Pepper's Collections, Ltd, at their Apparel Mart showroom. From all reports the show was a huge success. That Sunday afternoon, guests were in for an amazing treat of fashion, food, drinks, red carpet moments, and more, including the silent auction which benefited Wings of Love International, Inc.
Attendees described it as a "rich event" and an "outstanding success." This exclusive event, held at a private location in Atlanta, Georgia, started with red carpet appearances of Atlanta's elite fashion lovers, designers, models, CAFE staff, supporters of Wings of Love International, Inc, and many more specially invited guests. Cafe 2011 designers Sophia Clarke (Emmaline - Barbados); Wendy Pierre (Quantum3 Designs-Trinidad and Tobago); and Queen Esther (Kuumba Designs-St Lucia) displayed their designs to attendees, and took orders and measurements from interested patrons to provide tailor-made apparel for each, while models brought the Cafe designers' garments to life with informal modelling as they mingled with guests.
While shopping, attendees were able to enjoy delicious drinks and cuisine and bid on the silent auction items that included original art work from Stuart McClean, Felicia Kornegay and David Moore; a two-CD gift set and autographed photo from singer Maryline Blackburn; personal training sessions from fitness expert Stephen Smith of Viva Fitness; a basket of fine gourmet coffees and teas from Organo Gold; gift certificates for hat shopping at A Tisket A Tasket Hat Shoppe; a pair of onyx and garnet antique silver earrings by Barbara Garwood; St Lucia's Mabouya Wood carvings by Deligny Art Studio, St Lucia; and, a doll couple dressed in Wob' Madras, the national wear of St Lucia to perform the traditional Quadrille Dance, handmade by Queen Esther of St Lucia.
Rémy Martin served as a sponsor of the event introducing Rémy Martin V, the first clear spirit from the House of Rémy, which accompanied the delectable and colourful cuisine of Tassa Roti Shop, and each guest was served a pack of Organo Gold Green Tea upon arrival. Attendees were also surprised with one-of-a-kind door prizes that included floral sculptures from Karen Clarke Designs; Barbados Rum Cake, courtesy Bernadine Layne; and, hand-dyed silk scarves provided by CAFE designers Sophia Clarke and Wendy Pierre. At the end of it all JLC Productions boss Janice Lawrence-Clarke thanked Honorary Consul General to Barbados Dr Edward Layne and Bernadine Layne, for hosting the event.
